St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C
This scene shows one of my favorite design concepts. The practice of town churches intruding into the street originated in England in the 1700s or before. At first glance it appears that the church terminates the scene. However, the street curves around the church, leading to my conclusion that it is a deflected view around a pivot. In the photo below, notice that removing the utility lines made a great improvement to the scene.
